Renauld and the Steve McQueen® Estate are proud to announce a collaboration with Le Mans® to craft the limited edition, Steve McQueen® by Renauld collection.

Steve McQueen will always be remembered as the 'King of Cool', and throughout the 60s was an enthusiastic collector of sunglasses. The 1970 film Le Mans® is a cult classic and over the last 54 years has grown in popularity. Using ground-breaking filming techniques, McQueen pushed the boundaries of capturing live race sequences. During the filming, McQueen wore a distinct pair of sunglasses, and we are very proud to have been selected by the Estate to reimagine these for the first time since the film's release in 1970.

Renauld has crafted two models of the Steve McQueen® with just 350 pieces available for this season.

The Car 20 sunglasses feature an authenticated piece of the bodywork from McQueen’s own Porsche 917 race number 20 encased in the Renauld Keepsake Marque embedded in the temple of the sunglasses. This precious Keepsake is a rare collectable.

The Keepsake is also protected by a new interactive NFC element in the glasses called a ValueBond®*

During privileged meetings with the McQueen family, Renauld was given exclusive access to McQueen’s personal racing memorabilia including the Porsche 911S that was bought by McQueen after completing the film and is an exact replica of the car he used in Le Mans.

Crafted carefully to exacting standards and assembled by hand in the Renauld Studios in Italy and presented in a bespoke leather case and limited-edition gift box.  These aviator-style sunglasses have a distinct, timeless appeal.

Renauld is pioneering the concept of combining precious authenticated memorabilia into select sunglasses within the Renauld Keepsake Marque and protecting them with encrypted technology.  As the memorabilia is finite in nature, we will produce strictly limited numbers, making them highly collectable. The authentication and progressive value of each piece, with and without a Renauld Keepsake, can be established and communicated via a strictly private and protected audience using the Renauld ValueBond platform in addition to viewing exclusive content connected to the narrative of the sunglasses.
