A RENAULD ICON
Renauld and The Chapman Trust are proud to announce a creative collaboration that celebrates the legacy of Colin Chapman - one of Formula One’s greatest innovators, an engineering genius, and Lotus Team Boss.
The Chapman is a limited edition sunglasses collection that reimagines the sunglasses worn by Colin during the
1973 season - one of the most successful eras for Team Lotus, when the Lotus Type 72 was the dominant force in Formula One racing.
Featuring a distinct temple band with a repeating circular cut-out, The Chapman pays homage to Colin’s philosophy of design elegance and the practical engineering principle: “There’s nothing lighter than a hole”.
INTRODUCING
THE CHAPMAN BY RENAULD
This limited edition sunglasses collection comprises of two styles: The Innovator and The Victory and remains inextricably linked to Chapman through its design and emotional equity.
CHAPMAN AND THE ICONIC BLACK HAT
Chapman was admired for his intelligence and unwavering logic, having an instinctively strong sense of the right way to design and build cars – often characterised by their mathematical beauty, simplicity and lightness.
His black hat became a signature – worn at every race from 1973 onwards and famously thrown into the air in celebration after each Team Lotus victory. Over time, the hat has become a symbol of Chapman’s iconic status in the world of F1 and an emblem of Team Lotus’s racing achievements.

THE RENAULD KEEPSAKE MARQUEE
The Chapman Innovator captures the bold style that Colin set in the F1 pitlane during the adventurous Seventies.
The Chapman Victory features an authenticated part of a button from Colin’s trademark hat, embedded
within the Renauld Keepsake Marque, set within the temple of the sunglasses. The hat rests in the Chapman Family archive curated by Clive Chapman, Colin’s son, who remains deeply committed to preserving and celebrating the history of Team Lotus.

THE RENAULD MARQUE
Using the Renauld Marque as inspiration, we have pioneered a method of incorporating a keepsake into the aerodynamic shape of the lens temple. Crafting a micro-thin, vacuum-sealed keepsake compartment, the transparent Renauld Keepsake Marque houses a piece of authenticated memorabilia.
