Steve McQueen Launch Featuring Chase McQueen, the Le Mans Crew, and the Iconic Porsche 917
We are proud to share the incredible launch of the Steve McQueen by Renauld® sunglasses at Salon Privé, where history came alive as the original Le Mans film crew reunited to honour Steve McQueen’s legacy alongside his grandson, Chase, with the legendary Porsche 917—a centrepiece of the Le Mans film—taking centre stage.
Steve McQueen was more than a Hollywood icon—he was a true racer.
This extraordinary event would not have been possible without the dedication of David Bagley and the Salon Privé team, and Mark Finburgh, the car’s owner. We are deeply grateful to the Finburgh family and the Beaulieu National Motor Museum for their role in bringing this legendary car to the event.
We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Chad, Chase, and Madison McQueen Family for their kindness and generosity throughout this entire collaboration.
It was an honour to welcome the original Le Mans crew—David Piper (on-set driver), Richard Attwood (on-set 917 driver), Richard Bray (on-set mechanic), and Peter Darley (Lotus team photographer)—whose inspiring memories of the 1971 film and motorsport’s golden era captured the spirit of racing history.
A special moment was Chase McQueen signing a section of the iconic Porsche 917, an emotional highlight for Mark Finburgh (pictured below).
The Steve McQueen Collection, a limited-edition series features two models: The Car 20 and The Steve McQueen® Le Mans®. Limited to just 350 pieces this season, these sunglasses are a modern tribute to McQueen’s iconic 1970 frames, famously worn during the filming of Le Mans.
This collection introduces two world firsts. The highly collectible Car 20 series features an authenticated piece of McQueen’s own Porsche 917, encased in the Renauld Keepsake Marque.
Additionally, the interactive element 'ValueBond' technology, embedded in the sunglasses, offering owners access to exclusive digital content and providing authentication of their keepsake via the smartphone.
